Alexander Graham Bell Chapter picks a day in March to coordinate our Annual Read Day with several elementary schools.   Each child is given a book at the end of the reading session.

Beep Ball Season for the Visually ImpairedBeeping Baseball Summer Leagues are coordinated for the visually impaired.
Camp Friendship for Children with Cancer –  Annual Clean-up Day at Camp Friendship, usually in May just before the start of the summer camps.
 

Carpet Maps of the United States Carpet Maps for the Classroom or Library.

 

Computers for Schools

Supply computers with printers to needy elementary schools.

Covenant House (for troubled youth)Participate in serving dinners for Thanksgiving and participate in Festival of Lights during the Christmas Season.
 

The Dictionary Project – Dictionaries are purchased and given to 3rd and 4th grade students in elementary schools.

 

Easter Egg Hunt for the Visually Impaired – Beeping Eggs are hidden for the visually impaired to find.  This is an annual event held the Saturday before Easter.

Pioneer Playground MAP – Paint a large MAP of the United States of America on the playgrounds of area Elementary Schools.

Project Connect – Project Connect combines competitive, telecommunications-related gaming and education in a series of 7 web-based learning applications.  Please contact the Pioneer Office for more information.
Santa Bell – In December, Volunteers call the children of Pioneers, Verizon Employees and their family and friends as Santa.
 

Sports Jamboree for the Physically Disabled and Visually Impaired – AGB sponsors two disabled youth for the Annual Sports Jamboree in West Virginia, held in July.

Teacher’s Aid Boxes – This project provides supplies to selected schools in the AGB #15 area.  In keeping with the Pioneers’ literacy objectives, it has been determined that in addition to providing students with books, maps, and occasional readers, it is important that we begin providing aid in the form of selected supplies to classroom teachers.  This aid will enhance their ability to teach and maintain daily class control by having needed provisions on hand that may not be readily available through the normal school supplies ordering process.
 

Vials of Life – Vials with medical information are assembled and distributed to senior citizens, to be kept in refrigerators, in case of emergency.
